When a project is started, some people like the idea or something about the project, and they lend their magic. It’s with a great deal of appreciation that I recognize the magic that happened in the early days of this site. Many women added themselves to the Role Model Project for Girls, as you see here. The project also received friendly kudos from prominent industry watchers and related projects alike. Alas, the dreams outstripped the technology of the time and I wasn’t able to keep up on my shoestring budget.
Now some 14 years later, I am again thankful for the kindness and support of many women in bringing this project back to life. Like a magic garden left untended over the years, I’m surprised and thrilled to learn that with a little tending and care, life springs back slowly and steadily. I’m pleased to see projects all over the net that have taken root from these ideas, and will be linking to many of them in due course.
For now, I thank Monica Flores for helping me set up an interim website in a true database-compatible form. We’ll be working on updating the design in time. I’d also like to thank Eve Maler who continues to be supportive of my crazy shared dreams of person-driven and user-centric sites and tools. I have more awesome women to thank in future posts. Yes, there are guys to thank too! This is the best place for me to start.
